Olathe Public Schools is Hiring a Mental Health Professionals Near Lenexa, KS

LENGTH OF CONTRACT: 10-month contract

LOCATION: District Wide

STATUS: Certified - Contract

Report to: Director of Social Emotional Learning

Responsibilities:

·Serve as a mental health professional for all students.

·Provide individual and group counseling.

·Screen students for suicidal ideation when needed and make appropriate referrals for further treatment.

·Promote problem solving, anger management and conflict resolution skills.

·Reinforce positive coping skills and resilience.

·Promote positive peer relationships and social problem solving.

·Make referrals to and help coordinate community services provided in schools.

·Collaborate with behavioral health liaisons and school counselors regarding community mental health partners and child welfare agencies.

·Consult and collaborate with behavioral health liaisons and school counselors in implementing data-based screening and referral protocols.

·Ensure that school-based interventions and services are trauma informed, culturally and linguistically appropriate.

·Provide support in crisis response.

·Provide or consult on crisis team training.

·Coordinate workshops for parents and/or students (e.g. parenting skills, community resources, district programs, social skill development, etc.) for the purpose of assisting parents in maintaining a positive home environment, building trust between family and district and supporting child's education.

·Assess student and family needs (e.g. financial, medical, parenting skills, etc.) for the purpose of developing and implementing appropriate interventions.

·Maintain case records for the purpose of documenting activities and complying with mandated requirements.

·Mediate conflicts between parents, teachers and/or students (e.g. parent/teacher, parent/ parent, parent/student, etc.) for the purpose of resolving issues that could impede student success.

·Prevent bullying and other forms of violence.

·Support and be a resource for social–emotional learning in the classroom.

·Assess school climate and improve school connectedness.

·Implement and promote positive discipline.

·Implement school-wide positive behavioral supports.

·Identify at risk students and school vulnerabilities.

·Provide crisis prevention and intervention services.

·Help families understand student learning and mental health needs.

·Enhance staff understanding and responsiveness to diverse cultures and backgrounds.

·Help students transition between school and community learning environments, such as residential treatment or juvenile justice programs.

·Participate in district in-service and professional development meetings.

·Provide consultation to parents, students, and staff on Panorama survey and results.

·Provide consultation and services to feeder area students as needed.

·Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Qualifications:

·Hold a current and valid license as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (Master’s level) with the Kansas Behavioral Science and Review Board: LMSW, LMFT, MLP, LPC.

·Clinical licensure preferred; LSCSW, LCMFT, LCP, LCPC.

·Maintain a professional attitude with families and staff.

·Possess and utilize excellent interpersonal skills and professional judgment.

·Demonstrate collaborative and consultative skills.

Experience:

·Minimum of three years successfully supporting students with trauma histories, mental health diagnosis, and significant social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.

·Successful experience as a member of a clinical, school counseling, or special education team.

·Experience in a psychiatric/therapeutic day or residential facility for children preferred.
